“Acknowledge your and others’ range of linguistic differences as resources, and draw on those resources to develop rhetorical sensibility”

We developed this sensibility throughout the semester even just through paying attention to other student’s input in our regular classes and watching others present, but we especially benefited from small group discussions and peer review.  I had an in-depth discussion with other students on the lab report (mine in particular, but also a few of theirs), and this added depth to my understanding of things like tense and the differing content between abstracts and introductions.  I then revised my lab report to reflect my newfound understanding (figure 14).  In Blackboard discussions we have also had comments on diction, and I have kept in mind comments I received about the somewhat loquacious nature with which I framed our group’s memo topic (figure 15).
